Join The Cause: The band wagon one should not be ashamed to jump on!!!

I really like that everyone seems to be jumping on the band wagon for fighting obesity. It is the right choice to make and no one should judge someone who is trying to improve their own health or help others improve their health. Anyone can go with the flow and drink some beers, eat some greasy foods, and called themselves a true American by godly. However, true fully it takes more guts and more of a man or woman to do what is right and go against the flow even if it means risking their own pride. That it is the true American way if you ask me, doing what’s right for your own country by trying to help prevent the disease known as Obesity that is “estimated by 2030 that just under half (42%) of Americans will be Obese.” I do think it is time to step up!

Even if you don’t want to do it for yourself then do it for your families or loves ones, that’s where it all starts. Parents especially play a big role in helping their children’s current and future health.  I see nothing wrong with idea of cutting out happy meals, or vending machines in schools and I think it is great that some schools are now not even allowing high sugar drinks in their schools. I really don’t see anything wrong with parents not allowing their own kids sodas or fruits juices, less chance of addiction. In some parts of West Hollywood they don’t even allow any fast food chains, like McDonald’s. I just can’t take someone serious when they say they can’t live without high fat foods. If a meth addict can beat his or her own addiction, there is no reason why these high sodium food addicts can’t give up McD’s, seriously, come on!. Yep, I am comparing high sugar and high sodium foods to drugs because of research that is conducted regularly in the US.  In a recent research “They found that rats fed a diet containing 25% sugar are thrown into a state of anxiety when the sugar is removed which lead to symptoms included chattering teeth and the shakes - similar to those seen in people withdrawing from nicotine or morphine”
High sodium and High sugar foods are the leading causes of obesity today, and if we try to prevent our children by educating them while their young with nutrition classes and real fitness classes we can help prevent these life threatening diseases. We can’t force anybody to stop eating unhealthy foods but we can put more effort in providing people with proper education which will make people aware of the health issues that come with eating high sodium and sugar foods at the least.

Lastly, I am tired of hearing it is too expensive to eat healthy. I live on a tight budget and still find a way to eat just as healthy as the next health nut plus more, because I like to eat, especially lots of protein on regular basis. Buying all organic is more expensive but one does not have to eat all organic to lose weight or even to improve his or her health. I learned from nutrition classes and experience shoppers how to shop smart and buy the items that are healthy and easier to store and freeze. Learning how to shop healthy and smart can not only save you loads of cash but it will also allow the opportunity to enjoy the foods you love on those occasional cheat days. I get the feeling sometimes we Americans are looking for the next big diet, discovery or supplement that is going to save America from Obesity. When in reality the true way to healthy weight has always been right in front of us. We hear it all the time, moderation and calorie awareness, no empty carbs, including more nutrition like Micronutrients in our regular diets, exercise more, and keeping moving, all basics stuff.  Eating more greens will not kill you, it will only make you feel better, so you have more energy for the day and your workouts, so suck it up and eat your greens!  Finally, learn how to cook! I will be the first to admit I am not a good cook but I can cook basic foods like any meat on a grill chicken, steak, fish. I also can cook basic food such as eggs, veggies, and brown rice and anybody can make themselves a sandwich or salad. It all comes down to basic education, a little common sense really, and effort every day to be healthier person for yourself and for the  ones you care about.

That’s it, I don’t think we Americans have any more excuses, I do understand that some people have it harder because they health issues, because they are very busy at work, they have to work two jobs, and also have to support and spend time with their family. Although if all of the above are important, then one’s health has to be a top priority because like or not your health is going to play a big part in how successful you are and how happy you will be throughout your life. Simply put, there is always time for your health, so instead of spending time thinking of a why you can’t, spend more time thinking HOW you can.
